Character Education Awards

Uncommon Friends Foundation Character Education Awards Program recognizes outstanding educators who use the curricula with skill and artistry.  Award recipients display the ability to foster in students the characteristics of the uncommon friends and the philosophy of the Uncommon Friends Foundation. They also inspire colleagues to use the curricula and teach the philosophy of the Uncommon Friends Foundation, inspiring in others the same spirit of adventure, sense of purpose, and capacity for growth that was evident in the lives of those men and women described in the book, Uncommon Friends, authored by James Newton.

Recipients of the Character Education Awards are recognized annually at a dinner that celebrates their outstanding use of the curricula. Educators in public and private schools at every level – elementary, middle school, high school, and college – are eligible. Nominations are made by school administrators, colleagues, community members, or by teachers themselves.  Final selection of award recipients is made by the foundation’s Education Committee.
