The Uncommon Friends Foundation Scholarship recognize deserving people who have financial need, the potential to succeed in school and who demonstrate the personal traits of the Uncommon Friends.
The Positive Values of the Uncommon Friends:
Honesty, personal integrity, self-control, courage, commitment, compassion, citizenship, respect, a sense of purpose,
responsibility, spirit of adventure, perseverance, business ethics, personal growth, friendship and personal initiative.
Philosophy:
To inspire in others the same spirit of adventure, sense of purpose and capacity for growth that was evident in the lives of the described in the book Uncommon Friends, authored by James D. Newton.

SCHOLARSHIP CATEGORIES:
SPECIAL RECOGNITION SCHOLARSHIP - Intended to further aid a deserving person's education. The amount may be for books or only a portion of the needed funds. These awards are not for current enrollment but to continued classes in either the summer or fall terms.
HIGH TECH CENTER SCHOLARSHIP -
To assist with the tuition, books and supplies for one term at a High Tech Center. There are no age requirements. The awards are not for the current enrollment, but to be used in continued classes in either the summer or fall term and are to be used for that which is NOT covered by other scholarships or grants.
FLORIDA PREPAID COLLEGE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP -
Uncommon Friends Foundation and Florida Prepaid College Foundation cooperate to provide Community College tuition and local fees scholarships to selected ninth grade students who contract to succeed in high school, stay free of drugs and crime, and fulfill scholarship conditions.
THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA SCHOLARSHIP -
Boy Scouts of America and the Uncommon Friends Foundation share ideals. Eagle Scout scholarships help pay for books in the first semester of college. In addition to successfully completing rigorous requirement to reach the highest rank, each Eagle Scout has completed a special
project. These scholarships are chosen by the Boy Scout Council.
EDISON COLLEGE SINGLE PARENT SCHOLARSHIP - Edison College Single Parent Program helps single parents gain skills for further education to enter the workforce. The scholarships help single parents, all of whom have overcome extra obstacles. This award is not for current enrollment, but for summer or fall terms. The recipients are chosen by Edison College.
FLORIDA GULF COAST UNIVERSITY FUTURE TEACHERS SCHOLARSHIP -
Florida Gulf Coast University and the Uncommon Friends Foundation share ideals in the future of education. Florida Gulf Coast University picks one student for a book scholarship to be used in the summer or fall term.
