Scholarship Categories:

Special Recognition Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to someone who has a financial need, the desire and potential to succeed in school, and possesses positive character traits. It may be used for books or a portion of educational costs and is not for the current term.

High Tech Center Scholarship
This scholarship is to assist with the tuition, books and supplies for one term at a High Tech Center. There are no age requirements. This award is not for the current term, and is to be used for expenses not covered by other scholarships or grants.

Florida Prepaid College Foundation Scholarship
Uncommon Friends Foundation and Florida Prepaid College Foundation cooperate to provide scholarships for college tuition and local fees to selected ninth grade students who contract to succeed in high school, stay free of drugs and crime, and fulfill other scholarship conditions.

The Boy Scouts of America Scholarship
Boy Scouts of America and the Uncommon Friends Foundation share ideals. Eagle Scout scholarships help pay for books in the first semester of college. In addition to successfully completing rigorous requirement to reach the highest rank, each Eagle Scout has completed a special project. These scholarship recipients are chosen by the Boy Scout Council.

Edison College Single Parent Scholarship
Edison College Single Parent Program helps single parents further their education to gain skills to enter the workforce. This scholarship is focused on single parents who have overcome extraordinary obstacles. This award is not for the current term. Recipients are chosen by Edison College.

Future Teacher Scholarship
Uncommon Friends Foundation is dedicated to promoting lifelong learning, a sense of purpose, unending self improvement, and a commitment to helping others. This scholarship is for students matriculated in a program leading to a degree in education.

Submission Procedures:
Nominees must submit a completed application form, an essay on their reason for applying for the scholarship and how they feel they emulate the traits of the Uncommon Friends, and a 3 x 5 color picture. These should be accompanied by a letter from a sponsoring organization.

Judging:
Applications will be reviewed and evaluated by the Uncommon Friends Scholarship Committee. Photos and essays will not be returned. All applicants will be notified of their award status through their sponsoring agencies or by Uncommon Friends Foundation.

Recognition:
Scholarship recipients will be recognized at the Uncommon Friends Foundation Annual Dinner June 3, 2010, in “Hello Friends”, the Foundation’s newsletter, and on the Uncommon Friends Foundation website.
