Training
Curriculum training sessions provide participants with an opportunity to become familiar with all curriculum components and be introduced to strategies for implementation in classrooms. Trainers are “Champions”, those teachers who have received the Character Education Award for skillful use of the character education curricula.
Training sessions are offered a minimum of two times per year in Southwest Florida. Additional sessions may be scheduled whenever and wherever needed. School sites are usually used when training is requested by school administrators. Whenever possible, training sessions include a tour of the Edison-Ford Winter Estates to provide participants with the historical perspective of the curriculum.
The length of training sessions varies by need with the average session being three hours. A one hour overview of the curricula can also be provided upon request.
There is a minimal cost to attend a training session or for the refreshments that are provided during the training. However, curriculum notebooks must be purchased by the individual or school district. When Uncommon Friends Foundation receives grants or sponsorship for character education training, these funds supplement training costs. Travel and lodging costs may be charged for out of county or state training sessions.
Most school districts award in-service credits for attending curriculum training. Participants should check with their individual school district administrators to learn if credit is available. Uncommon Friends Foundation only verifies training attendance for school districts.
Scheduled training sessions will be posted on this website.
